The dining services host/hostess serves as a partner with the Front of the House Supervisor. This position requires cross-training, being responsible and possessing time management skills. Hours are generally 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. while school is in session. The core of Cornerstone University is defined and driven by its Christ-centered mission and Biblical confession.

JOB TITLE: Food Service Host/Hostess

CLASSIFICATION: Part-time (9 Months – 20 hours per week), Hourly

REPORTS TO: Food Service Director

DEPT: Food Service

LOCATION: Grand Rapids, Michigan

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work at the checker stand when assigned.
  • Sets up, serves and cleans up dining room as directed.
  • Ensures all front of the house dishes, utensils, and other equipment are properly stored and displayed.
  • Interacts with guests & customers at meals with professionalism, service and grace, upholding the customer service expectations of Cornerstone University.
  • Provides customer feedback to the Food Service Director / Assistant Director.
  • Train and develop student workers
  • Oversee student workers front of house
  • Ability to cross train throughout Food Service
  • Maintain set standard of quality and safety
  • Ability to handle pressure, multi-tasking, and some weekend hours.
  • All Cornerstone University employees will regularly interact with students in a variety of projects, activities, and settings. As such all employees are expected to serve as Christian leaders and mentors by effectively living a gospel-centered lifestyle, ministering and discipling through a biblical worldview.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

PAY RANGE: $16 - $17 per hour

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • ServSafe Certification
  • 2+ years food service experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Strong organizational and mathematical skills
