CLASSIFICATION: 12-month, Part-time, Graduate Assistant
REPORTS TO: Men’s Basketball Head Coach and Director of Athletics
DEPARTMENT: Athletics
LOCATION: Bernice Hansen Athletic Center, Grand Rapids, MI
SUMMARY: The individual in this position will support the head coach in duties pertaining to the team and program. The candidate will serve the players of the Cornerstone University Men’s Basketball program while acting in accordance with the mission of the university.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in various areas of the Men’s Basketball Program
- Attend and participate in team practices and meetings
- Be actively involved in practices in whatever ways are needed
- Be on the bench at home and away games
- Watch video of opposing teams for scouting purposes
- Help with opposing teams’ scouting reports
- Watch CU game video for observation purposes and feedback
- Help with recruiting players by attending games, contacting recruits through phone calls, text and other social media avenues
- Work with individual players on skill development
- Assist with Summer Camps
- Assist with JV team
- Help with alumni relations
- Seek to build relationships of influence with team members that positively impact their spiritual and personal growth as followers of Christ
- Perform other duties as assigned
- 18 hours/week maximum, up to 936 hours/year maximum
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Acceptance into a Cornerstone University Master’s Degree program
- Competed in organized basketball at the high school level or above
- High level of basketball knowledge
- Relational, organized and confident
- Desire to be a basketball coach at some level
- Demonstrated professional organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work/teach in a team setting
- Personal relationship with Jesus Christ and has a heart for discipleship
- A theology that supports the values and mission of Cornerstone University, as evidenced by an ability to affirm and sign the university’s doctrinal statement, “The Cornerstone Confession”
