Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids, Michigan invites applications for a full-time faculty and Director of Field Education position in Social Work beginning fall 2024. This full-time, 9-month position is eligible for faculty rank, likely starting as an Assistant Professor if qualifications are met. We are a theologically conservative Christian University located in Grand Rapids, MI. The primary responsibilities of the faculty are teaching, spiritual modeling and mentoring, scholarship, and involvement in and service to Cornerstone and the general community.

Candidates should be able to teach advanced courses in the major, including Social Work Practice courses focusing on work with individuals, families, groups, and communities. Experience related to micro or macro level practice is desirable. Director of Field Education responsibilities include building strong community relationships with area organizations for Field Practicum partnerships. The Director of Field Education oversees all Social Work Field Practicum placements and maintains student data for CSWE accreditation purposes. Other responsibilities include scholarly engagement in the candidate’s specialization area, academic advising, assessment of student learning, student recruitment and other departmental duties as assigned. Open to hiring at the assistant or associate level, depending on experience.

Requirements and Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will possess a relevant advanced degree (MSW and 2 years of experience required; Ph.D. preferred), be licensed in the State of Michigan or have an equivalent license in their state of residence, give evidence of scholarly potential, and demonstrate a commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Review of applications begins immediately and will continue until the position is filled. A successful candidate will possess a master’s or doctorate in a related field.

Physical requirements include the ability to teach 12 credits/semester of classes and labs on campus, use computers, operate lab equipment, and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.

Salary and Start Date:

Anticipated Salary Range: $48,000 - $54,000/year. The actual base salary is dependent upon educational and professional qualifications and experience.
