Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids, Michigan invites applications for a full time, 9-month faculty position in Finance beginning fall, 2024. We are a theologically conservative Christian University located in Grand Rapids, MI.

The primary responsibilities of the faculty are teaching, spiritual modeling and mentoring, scholarship, and involvement in and service to Cornerstone and the general community. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching. Other responsibilities include scholarly engagement in the candidate’s specialization area, academic advising, assessment of student learning, student recruitment and other departmental duties as assigned. This faculty position is eligible for academic rank, likely starting at Assistant Professor if requirements are met.

Requirements and Responsibilities:

  • Possess a relevant Master’s degree in Finance or Financial Planning (Ph.D. preferred) and hold a current Certified Financial Planning (CFP) Professional license/certificate. If you have a master's in finance, several years of work-related experience, and a desire to pursue your terminal degree, please apply for further discussion.
  • Provide evidence of scholarly potential and demonstrate a commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching.
  • Teach general finance and personal finance courses as well as upper-level courses including Investments, Insurance and Risk management, and Corporate Finance.
  • Teach a full-time load of 300 credit hours/semester.
  • Support the work of the Groundwork Financial Center (GFC) – a peer-to-peer financial coaching organization, based on a Biblical approach to personal finance.
    • The candidate may also provide primary leadership of the GFC.
  • Other responsibilities include scholarly engagement in the candidate’s specialization area, leadership of the Finance and CFP programs, student recruitment, course and program assessment, and other departmental duties as assigned.

Cornerstone‘s finance curriculum provides a Christ-focused education that is dedicated to smaller class sizes and one on one training of students. Our faculty enjoy working together to mentor and teach our eager students the complexities of the subject matter with a Christian Worldview.

Physical requirements include the ability to teach classes and labs on campus, use computers, operate lab equipment, and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.

Salary and Start Date:

  • Annual Salary of $60,000 - $80,000 for a 9-month faculty contract. The actual base salary will be commensurate with professional qualifications, skills, education, and experience. A full benefit package including health plans, disability coverage, and retirement is included.
  • Start Date: August 15, 2024
