SUMMARY:

The Sports Information Director (SID) is responsible for promoting and publicizing Cornerstone’s athletic programs, student-athletes, and coaches. This role involves managing all aspects of sports information, including media relations, statistics, game-day operations, and digital content creation. The SID plays a key role in shaping the public image of the athletics department and enhancing the visibility of the college’s sports teams.

SALARY: $39,000/year

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Other duties may be assigned.

Media & Public Relations

  • Serve as the primary media contact for all athletic programs.

  • Write and distribute press releases, game recaps, and feature stories.

  • Coordinate interviews and media coverage with local and regional outlets.

Game Day Operations

  • Manage press box and scorer’s table operations for home events.

  • Oversee live stats, scorekeeping, and public address announcements.

  • Coordinate live streaming and video production for home games.

Digital & Social Media

  • Maintain and update the athletics website with schedules, rosters, results, and news.

  • Create engaging content for social media platforms (graphics, videos, highlights).

  • Develop and execute digital campaigns to promote teams and events.

Statistics & Records

  • Compile and maintain accurate statistics for all sports following NAIA regulations.

  • Maintain historical records and archives for all athletic programs.

  • Submit required reports and nominations for conference and national awards.

Collaboration & Leadership

  • Work closely with coaches, athletic trainers, and administrators.

  • Supervise student workers, interns, and volunteers.

  • Assist with special events, including banquets, Hall of Fame inductions, and fundraising initiatives.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, sports management, or related field.

  • 1–3 years of experience in sports information, media relations, or athletic communications (college-level preferred).

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, StatCrew, and website CMS platforms.

  • Strong writing, editing, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Experience with live streaming platforms and video editing software.

  • Knowledge of social media analytics and digital marketing strategies.

  • Familiarity with collegiate athletic associations and compliance standards.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in statistical software such as StatCrew, Presto, or Genius.

  • Proven capacity for self-motivation to meet deadlines and to thrive in high-pressure environments.
