SUMMARY

The individual in this position assists the Director of Chapel Ministries & Spiritual Formation to plan and execute Cornerstone University’s campus ministries initiatives including chapel, events, small groups, mentorship, and partnerships with local churches and ministries. The Assistant Director of Chapel Ministries & Spiritual Formation will provide vital administrative support including communication, chapel planning, event planning, and social media management. Additionally, the Assistant Director of Chapel Ministries & Spiritual Formation is responsible for discipling and mentoring college students. The core of Cornerstone University is defined and driven by its Christ-centered mission and Biblical confession.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain strong lines of internal communication with students, staff, and faculty via email, phone, MyCU, and social media.
  • Maintain strong lines of external communication with local churches, local ministries, and chapel speakers via email and phone.
  • Create discipleship opportunities on campus.
  • Assist in oversight of student leader tasks and directives related to chapel, small groups, and mentoring, and coach these student leaders.
  • Plan and organize various campus ministries events like spiritual formation retreats, Global Impact Week, developmental retreats, and other opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate data on chapel attendance software, and assist with student chapel accommodations and credits.
  • Write and edit documents related to campus ministries (policies, curriculum, reports, memos, etc.).
  • Create graphics to be published on social media, chapel services, internal lines of communication, etc.
  • Conduct regular student surveys and provide other avenues of student feedback regarding spiritual formation.
  • Assist the Director with recruiting, interviewing, and hiring spiritual formation and worship student leaders.
  • Assist the Director with other administrative tasks for Chapel Ministries and Spiritual Formation as directed.
  • All Cornerstone University employees will regularly interact with students in a variety of projects, activities, and settings. As such all employees are expected to serve as Christian leaders and mentors by effectively living a gospel-centered lifestyle, ministering and discipling through a biblical worldview.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  • Bachelor’s degree required in related field (Communications, Ministry, Nonprofit Administration, etc.)
  • Preferred experience in non-profit, education, or ministry work.
  • Demonstrated capacity for task management and organization.
  • Demonstrated capacity for written and verbal communication.
  • Familiarity with communication tools and software like Microsoft Word, Canva, Adobe Illustrator, or equivalent.
  • Proven discretion and capacity to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
