Cornerstone University is seeking a Director of Nursing to join our growing program in the School of Health, Science, and Technology. The Director will serve as the Chief Nursing Administrator (CNA) for the university. The position is classified as a full-time tenure-track, 12-month faculty role with academic rank and a base salary dependent upon educational and professional credentials.

Candidates should be able to teach a variety of nursing courses and have an eagerness to lead a new and growing program infused with a Christian World View. Our first class of nurses graduated in the spring of 2024 and this is the time for us to develop additional programs including an RN to BSN completion, and an MSN online for our eager students. This posting is evidence of continued investment and optimism about the nursing and other health programs at Cornerstone.The Director reports to the Dean for the School of Health, Science, and Technology.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team to ensure full alignment with accrediting bodies, recommend program improvements, and grow student enrollment.
  • Remain current with medical and technological advancements and oversee talent development.
  • Set strategic direction and plans for continued excellence and growth of the nursing program.
  • Teach a variety of nursing courses in person and/or online
  • Hire, lead, and inspire the nursing faculty
  • Other responsibilities include scholarly engagement in the nursing profession, academic advising, accreditation, student and faculty recruitment, and other departmental duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of master’s degree in nursing and at least be matriculating through a terminal degree program such as PhD or DNP
  • Possess an unencumbered RN license in Michigan
  • Have a minimum of 10 years of nursing and leadership experience
  • Have taught in higher education for a minimum of two years
  • Exhibit local connections (and/or the ability to create them)
  • A good reputation in the nursing community
  • Complete buy-in with professional accreditation value
  • An optimistic magnetism and ability to find excitement in growing a relatively new program
  • Demonstrate a commitment to excellence in undergraduate leadership and teaching.
  • Preference will be given to those with experience and expertise in teaching in person and online, and with academic leadership.

Annual Salary: The actual salary will be commensurate with candidate credentials and experience. A full benefit package of health plans, disability coverage, 100% tuition remission for employees and their dependent children, and a 403(b)-retirement plan is included.
